Adobe Audition 2.0 is a digital audio editing software that allows users to record, edit, and mix audio content. If you want to create custom boot sounds, you can use Adobe Audition to record or edit audio files, adjusting them to your preferences. Once you've created or edited your desired audio file, you can save it in a compatible format for use as a boot sound.
For creating or editing custom boot screens, which typically involves graphics rather than audio, you'd use a graphics software like Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004. You can design and edit images there, but please note that implementing a custom boot screen may require additional steps outside the capabilities of these programs, specifically related to your operating system's settings or configuration.
Ensure that you have appropriate permissions and backups before modifying system files for custom boot screens or sounds.
To connect your Sanyo ICR-FP600 voice recorder to Adobe Audition 2.0 on Windows XP and record audio to a .wav file, follow these steps:
Check Connections: Ensure you have a suitable audio cable. You will likely need a cable with a 3.5mm jack on both ends (one for the recorder's output and one for the computer's line-in or microphone input).
Connect Device: Plug one end of the audio cable into the headphone or audio-out jack of your Sanyo ICR-FP600 and the other end into your computer’s microphone or line-in jack.
Configure the Input in Windows XP:
Go to the Control Panel and select "Sounds and Audio Devices."
Under the "Audio" tab, ensure your computer's sound card is selected as the default recording device.
Click on the "Volume" button in the "Sound recording" section to open the Recording Control window.
Check the appropriate input source (Microphone or Line-In, depending on where you plugged in the cable) and adjust the volume if necessary.
Set Up Adobe Audition 2.0:
Open Adobe Audition 2.0.
Go to "Edit" > "Audio Hardware Setup" and ensure the correct input source is selected.
Create a new file by going to "File" > "New" and selecting "Audio File."
Set the sample rate, channels, and bit depth according to your preferences (e.g., 44.1kHz, Mono, 16-bit for typical voice recordings).
Record Audio:
Click the record button in Adobe Audition.
Press play on the Sanyo voice recorder to start playback.
The audio should now be recording into Adobe Audition.
Save the File:
Once recording is complete, stop the recording in Audition.
Save the file by going to "File" > "Save As" and select the .wav format.

Try to reinstall your audio driver because Adobe Audition strongly depends on your sound card to work properly. You can use your support CD to install the drivers for your sound card. If you're using a built-in sound module, you can check for drivers on the support page for your motherboard.

Adobe Audition does not allow you to edit VOB files since these are video files and the application uses audio files because it's an audio processor and editor. Try Adobe Premiere if you want to edit VOB files. Adobe Premiere is a recommended application when you want to edit video files.

To find the appropriate settings to hear yourself in headphones while you are recording, I suggest you use Google. By doing this, you can find a movie tutorial or a guide with the exact settings that should work for your version of the product too. Also, you can visit the official forum, where this matter has been discussed.
